Announcement letter: Happy New Year “turned on it’s ear”

HAPPY NEW YEAR… TURNED ON ITS EAR
8/11/2016
Dear Family and Friends,

Still to see and what’s already been seen in 2016…
·       Erin has been “Erin Ribble” for 19 years, which is as long as she was “Erin Carver,” and Scott still sees marrying her as one of the best choices he’s ever made!
·       Alana’s completed her junior year of high school. She’s 17 and preparing to begin the last leg of the high school “race”, her senior year. She loves running, and she’s a captain of the cross-country team. She enjoys playing percussion in the high school band, and is looking forward to Abishai’s participation this year. She excels academically, and she’s ambitious in her class selections. She loves the youth group at church, and serves regularly in children’s Sunday school classes.
·       Abishai’s 14, and headed into 9th grade. He has a lot of friends, loves sports, family, and vegging. He is now the 2nd tallest in the family, and will likely be the tallest before the year is out. He’s excited for the opportunity to be a part of the Menasha High School football program as a freshman. Abishai traded in the French horn for the trumpet this past year, and he’s looking forward to being in the Bluejay Brigade this fall.
·       Aurelia’s 12, and soon to begin her 7th grade year. This will be her 3rd year at the Flex Academy charter school. The “Flex” allows her to be home often working through an online curriculum, and enjoy a more typical school setting a couple days a week. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, swimming/working out at the YMCA, reading, cooking, and making things. She continues to overflow with creativity, serve sweetly, and love generously.
·       Aidrik’s 10, and finally in the “double digits.”  He loves baseball, and enjoyed his first experience in an organized baseball league. He loves hanging out with his siblings, parents, and friends. He “pities the fool” who doesn’t enjoy watching the A-team. He’s smart (he seems to know which compass direction he’s facing with his eyes closed), athletic, loud, and cool. He will also be attending the “Flex” this fall.
·       We took our first “spring break” family trip to Ft. Myers, Florida in March… and then Scott and Erin went to Florida again in June, for orientation because…
·       God has revealed that He wants us to change careers to join with YouthHOPE, a ministry of New Mission Systems International (NMSI), and move to Ft. Myers Florida in 2017!

Yes, I said God is leading us to begin a new career as “missionaries” with YouthHOPE at the NMSI headquarters in Ft. Myers Florida.

Perhaps you feel shocked or surprised, and wonder how we came to a decision so quickly when the “stakes” seam so high. We have felt that way too. Feelings, however, are commonly poor counselors. The more we process this opportunity, the more we see that God has undeniably been paving this path and preparing our hearts long before we knew about it. From Zambia, to career change, to unemployment, to Zambia, to career change, to Urbana, to YouthHOPE, He’s been working all along!

Of course it’s not a “just” to make such a transition. Yet we’re confident that God is already at work to accomplish what He’s leading us to do, so stay tuned and watch what He does!
